Outfit Details: And Now For Something Completely Different

Saturday Sweetie's parents came for a short visit.  We had brunch and a quick stroll about the Dallas Arboretum (I have a handful of Arboretum pics to post later.)

That evening we attended a Vaudeville themed burlesque show and our favorite themed Goth Night, the Shadow Society (which was pin-up themed this month.)  I adore anything Vaudeville/carnival/circus/side show and my new work schedule prevents me from attending a lot of events.  So I was delighted that this particular show was on a Saturday that I did not have to work.  I also did not have to change before Goth Night since the themes coordinated so well!

There was magic, pretty girls, circus freaks, and good friends.  I also worked up the courage to wear a daring outfit.

I think it was important to force myself outside of my fashion comfort zone.  I love dressing in my quasi-Victorian outfits.  I love a good poofy skirt and severe high collared blouse.  However, I had been feeling frumpy for a while.  I suppose I experienced an early miniature mid-life crisis.  With several burlesque/Vaudeville themed events this month I decided to put together a (hopefully) confidence boosting Goth Cabaret outfit.  I've wanted to wear a Goth Cabaret look for some time but thought the result would be rather frightening.  I planned out the look for a couple of months.  I wanted something different but still true to my aesthetic and something that I would wear more than once.

In which the stress nightmare where I forget my pants *actually* happens.

I daresay this outfit was just what I needed.  I felt pretty and fancy and I received a lot of positive feedback.  Goodbye frumpy feeling!  I do believe I will wear more outfits like this in the future! (When appropriate, of course!)
